Dr. Michael O’Brien, referred to as Dr. Michael at the office, joined his father, Dr. David O’Brien, in practice at O’Brien Vision Center in 1993 after earning his Doctor of Optometry from Southern College of Optometry (SCO). He earned his Bachelor of Arts in Biology from University of Mississippi in 1990, also earning a minor in Spanish after studying at the University of Salamanca, Spain. Currently, Dr. Michael is board certified by the American Board of Optometry, serves on the Health Advisory Board for Head Start, participates in the InfantSEE program, is a member of the Mississippi Optometric Association and American Optometric Association, and serves as President of the Northwest Mississippi Optometric Association, elected in 2011.
In his spare time, Dr. Michael enjoys family time with his wife and son. He also runs, reads, cooks, and occasionally draws. You might notice some of Dr. Michael’s artwork hanging on the walls of O’Brien Vision Center!
Dr. Jonathan W. Wilson joined O’Brien Vision Center in 2004 after completing his Doctor of Optometry from Southern College of Optometry. He earned his Bachelor of Science in Microbiology from Mississippi State University in 2000. He currently is an active member in the Mississippi Optometric Association, and the American Optometric Association. He is also board certified by the American Board of Optometry. Dr. Wilson enjoys spending time with his wife, Emily, daughters, Ella Rose and Ivy, and son, Isaac. He also is an avid outdoorsman and enjoys watching all MSU sports.
Dr. Kellie Jones joins O’Brien Vision Center in 2014 after receiving her Doctor of Optometry degree from Southern College of Optometry. She graduated Cum Laude from University of Mississippi with a Bachelor of Arts in Sociology. She is an active member of both the American Optometric Association and the Mississippi Optometric Association. Dr. Jones resides in Hernando with her husband, Brian and their children, Dylan and Lily. She enjoys spending time with her family as well as reading, running, and painting.
Dr. Ty H. Smith joined O’Brien Vision Center in 2018 after earning his Doctor of Optometry degree from Southern College of Optometry. He graduated from Mississippi State University, receiving a Bachelor of Arts and Sciences in Biological Sciences. He is an active member in the Mississippi Optometric Association and the American Optometric Association. When out of the office, Dr. Smith enjoys spending time with his wife, Sara, and their dog, Mike. He also, loves watching the Memphis Grizzlies and shooting under par.
Dr. Christina Brown joined O’Brien vision center in 2021 after graduating Cum Laude from the Southern
College of Optometry in 2006. She graduated Magna Cum Laude from the University of NC at Chapel
Hill in 2002 and earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Biology. She has Board Certification and
Licensure by the National Board of Optometry, TN Board of Optometry, GA Board of Optometry, TX
Board of Optometry, and the MS Board of Optometry. She is also licensed for the Treatment and
Management of Ocular Disease, Therapeutics, and Injectable Certified. She has served as a member of
the Beta Sigma Kappa International Optometric Honor Society, West Tennessee Optometric Society,
National Optometric Association, Gamma Omicron Service Organization, Fellowship of Christian
Optometrists, Texas Optometric Club, and American Public Health Association. She has received the
Medical Service Award, Volunteer Service Award, USAA All-American Scholar Award, Golden Key Award,
Academic Achievement award, Outstanding Fourth Year Clinician Award, Low Vision Award, and the
Cambridge Who’s Who Among Optometrists Award.
In her spare time, Dr. Brown enjoys spending time with her husband, Dr. Chris Brown and their four
children Carter, Ian, Cayden, and Christiana. She also enjoys traveling, reading, Zumba, and church
activities.
